Design
The design process starts with your ideas, brand, values, and goals. The website structure, layout and look is developed to showcase your company, products, services and culture while keeping the potential user’s perspective in mind. I can help you develop a design that reflects who you are, attracts potential customers to your site and moves you closer to your goals.
Development
After the initial design is completed, the website development begins using the WordPress Content Management System (or content management system of your choice). After noting the primary needs and goals, a site plan is mapped out and the website structure takes shape. The look and feel of the website will start to emerge after choosing the color scheme, font styles, logo placement and page layout for the home page, then subsequent pages until the site is complete. This is where your ideas come to life.
Content
Wordsmithing is an art used to improve the clarity and style of the text. Developing content involves taking a summary idea, expanding on it, then getting feedback after review. Wordsmithing helps keep the final content copy fresh and free from redundancy. I enjoy creating and freshening up a website’s content so it is polished, informative, relevant, and easy to read.
Imagery
Images bring a website to life. Taking the picture is one step in the process. Editing the picture to create a focal point and perspective is the next step. Positioning the image on your webpage is the final step to get the desired look to tell your story. I enjoy the creative challenge of using imagery to convey personality and values that attracts visitors to your website. I can add your personal style to your website.
Responsive
In today’s busy world where everyone has a mobile device, websites have to be responsive to display correctly on the various sized devices. I can ensure that your target audience will see a visually appealing, responsive website no matter what they are using to access it. Your website will have all the mobile friendly features enabled.
Refresh
It is important to keep your website current and up to date to improve SEO and attract potential users/customers to your site. As a business grows and changes, it’s website needs to grow and change too. Updating the content, layout, and menu structure will change the look and feel of a website. This is accomplished by updating pictures, color schemes, layout and refreshing content, or adding new content. Functionality can also be improved by adding links, hyperlinks, forms, “calls to action” and social media to your site. A website refresh can be transformative!
SEO
Search Engine Optimization is critical to increase website visibility and traffic. Good SEO helps your potential customers find your business and products. I utilize tools and strategies to optimize your website’s SEO to get you noticed.
Social Media
Linking a website to your social media accounts can keep your targeted audience informed and help increase traffic to your site. I can help you integrate your social media accounts into your overall marketing strategy to reach your goals and/or grow your business.
UX Design
User Experience Design enhances and supports a user’s interaction with a product. User Experience is how a person feels when interacting with a website or product. Adhering to Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) standards ensures a website is easy to use, efficient, learnable and retainable so a user can be productive. UX Design expands on the standards of HCI to include usefulness, usability, meaningfulness, and emotional impact as perceived by the user. I use the Agile approach to UX Design to ensure your website meets your needs, your customer’s needs and also provides a good User Experience.
“Most people make the mistake of thinking design is what it looks like. People think it’s this veneer — that the designers are handed this box and told, ‘Make it look good!’ That’s not what we think design is. It’s not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”
